HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Requests for FACES Celebration RESOLUTION NO. 02-306 RESOLUTION APPROVING REQUESTS OF HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION PERTAINING TO F.A.C.E.S. CELEBRATION TO BE HELD ON OCTOBER 5, 2002 FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,the Ames Human Relations Commission has scheduled the F.A.C.E.S.(Families in Ames Celebrating EthnicitieS) Celebration for October 5, 2002; and, WHEREAS, current plans are for entertainment and activities to be held in the City Auditorium and food vendors to be in the East City Hall Parking Lot; and, WHEREAS,the Commission requested support from the City in the amount of$1,500;and, WHEREAS,they are also requesting that Clark Avenue between Fifth and Sixth Streets and the East City Hall Parking Lot be closed from 8 AM to 10 PM for the event; and, WHEREAS,the Commission further requested that the City waive the cost of electricity used for the event,the vending license fees for food vendors, and the fee for use of the City Auditorium; and, WHEREAS, approval of a blanket Temporary Obstruction Permit for the Central Business District and a Noise Permit from 11 AM to Midnight on October 5 was also requested. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that an allocation of$1,500 to the Human Relations Commission from the 2001/02 Contingency Fund;waivers of vendor application fees,City Auditorium user fee,and costs of electricity,closure of Clark Avenue between Fifth and Sixth Streets and the East City Hall Parking lot; and issuance of a blanket Temporary Obstruction Permit and Noise Permit, all pertaining to the F.A.C.E.S. Celebration to be held on October 5, 2002, are hereby approved. ADOPTED THIS 28th day of May, 2002. .LIM& Diane R.
