RESOLUTION APPROVING MATCHING FUNDS
WITH THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR
HANGAR DOOR REPLACEMENT AT THE AMES MUNICIPAL AIRPORT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) has authorized $500,000 for
Vertical Infrastructure Improvements at General Aviation Airports throughout Iowa; and,
WHEREAS,this program provides matching funds for improvements to hangars,terminals,
and fuel farms, which generally are not authorized for use of federal funds; and,
WHEREAS,the program is a 70% state and 30%city match to a maximum of$50,000 per
airport; and,
WHEREAS, staff applied for$37,800 of these funds for door replacements,insulation, and
new heaters for the City's maintenance hangar; and,
WHEREAS,the doors were the only project with a high enough priority to receive the state's
funding and is projected to cost$22,800 with the state's share being $15,960 and the City's share
being $6,840.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that matching funds with the Iowa Department of Transportation to replace the maintenance hangar
doors at the Ames Municipal Airport are hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 14'h day of May, 2002.
