RESOLUTION APPROVING EXTENSION OF CONTRACT
WITH THE OCTAGON FOR"IOWA ARTISTS SYMPOSIUM"
AND CARRY-OVER OF FUNDS TO 2002/03 FISCAL YEAR
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS,last fall,the Commission On The Arts(COTA)recommended a total of$1,500
through two min-grants be awarded to The Octagon to provide for an"Iowa Artists Symposium";
and,
WHEREAS, the symposium was scheduled for March 2002; and,
WHEREAS,due to the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts holding a major
event in Kansas City in March, plans for The Octagon symposium were put on hold; and,
WHEREAS,The Octagon has asked that COTA allow them to carry over the$1,500 in mini-
grants for the symposium to 2002/03 and allow the event to take place in March 2003; and,
WHEREAS,COTA has approved this request and recommends that the City Council approve
it as well.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the requests to extend the City's contract with The Octagon for the Iowa Artists Symposium and
to carry over of$1,500 in Local Option funds to Fiscal Year 2002/03 are hereby approved.
