RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF
2000/01 ARTERIAL STREET REHABILITATION PROGRAM
(DAYTON AVENUE RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT-
13TH STREET TO LINCOLN WAY)
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, this City Council has, in conjunction with the Iowa Department of Transportation
(IDOT),heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the
City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the 2000/01 Arterial Street Rehabilitation
Program(Dayton Avenue Reconstruction Project- 13'Street to Lincoln Way);and,pursuant to notice and
hearing, bids were received on the 26`h day of March, 2002, as called for in the detailed plans and
specifications as prepared by the Iowa Department of Transportation Project Development Division and filed
with the City Clerk on the 51h day of March, 2002; and,
WHEREAS,the Council and IDOT has heretofore determined that the bid of Peterson Contractors,
Inc., of Reinbeck, Iowa, in the amount of $4,027,471.76 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the
construction of said project; and,
WHEREAS,contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said
contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as
follows:
Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Peterson Contractors, Inc., of
Reinbeck, Iowa, in the amount of $4,027,471.76 dated the 9t' day of April, 2002, for the
construction of the 2000/01 Arterial Street Rehabilitation Program(Dayton Avenue Reconstruction
Project- 13`h Street to Lincoln Way)as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred
to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with Seaboard Surety
Company of Baltimore, Maryland, as surety thereon, in the amount of $4,027,471.76 filed in
connection therewith, be and the same are hereby approved.
Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the
extend of such conflict.
