RESOLUTION APPROVING RENEWAL OF CONTRACTS TO
FURNISH ELECTRIC DISTRIBUTION TRANSFORMERS
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, on April 10, 2001, the City Council awarded contracts for the purchase of
electric distribution transformers necessary to meet the anticipated needs of the Electric Services
Department for new construction and maintenance; and,
WHEREAS,these contracts called for units to be purchased as required through March 2002,
with a one-year optional renewal period subject to approval by the contractors and the City; and,
WHEREAS,transformers are purchased from an Electric Department inventory asset account
and charged to the appropriate operations accounts as the units are put into use, and, under these
contracts,units are purchased as requested on a quarterly basis with the ability to change types and
quantities prior to predetermined manufacturing deadlines; and,
WHEREAS, 14 sizes of overhead transformers are included in one contract,and 15 sizes of
padmounted transformers are included in the second of the two contracts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the renewal contract for the purchase of overhead distribution transformers with ERMCO of
Dyersburg, Tennessee, and the renewal contract for the purchase of padmounted distribution
transformers with RESCO of Ankeny, Iowa, for single-phase units to be manufactured by Central
Maloney and three-phase units to be manufactured by Pauwels are hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 26th day of March, 2002.
