HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Method of Calculation for Residential Building Permit Fees RESOLUTION NO. 02-132 RESOLUTION APPROVING CHANGE IN METHOD OF CALCULATING RESIDENTIAL BUILDING PERMIT FEES FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, the Building Official recently presented a report to the Council regarding a change in the method of calculating residential building permit fees; and, WHEREAS,the change included: 1)calculating by use of current valuation tables for good construction and lowering fees to remain revenue neutral; and, 2)using the 1997 fee table instead of the 1991 table, however, add a multiplier of.47 to adjust the fees accordingly; and, WHEREAS, the Building Official met with 17 people representing 11 companies and informed them of these proposed changes; and, WHEREAS, all agreed that it was important to change the fee calculation method to more accurately reflect the valuation of permits to those groups who seek that information; and, WHEREAS,this issue was brought to Council during the budget process,however,it chose not to raise the building permit fees during this budget cycle. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the change in the method of calculating residential building permit fees to more accurately report valuations is hereby approved.
