HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Placement of Spanish language information/directional signs in City Hall RESOLUTION NO. 02-092 RESOLUTION APPROVING REQUEST TO PLACE SPANISH LANGUAGE INFORMATION/DIRECTIONAL SIGNS IN CITY HALL FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS,the City Council received a request from the Dialogues City Government Action Committee conveying three proposals for City consideration; and, WHEREAS, staff has prepared a proposal regarding the sign portion of this request; and, WHEREAS,based on conversations with staff in City Hall in various departments, Spanish was the language most often spoken by those needing assistance in the building; and, WHEREAS, staff has been working with sign vendor, ASI Sign Systems, to prepare five informational signs measuring six inches by six inches and two 36-inch by 12-inch directory listings in Spanish to be placed at the front and back doors; and, WHEREAS, the total estimate of cost for these signs will be $752.50 and will be designed to match existing City Hall signs; and, WHEREAS, since there is no budget for this project, staff is requesting that the Council allow Contingency Funds to be used for this purchase. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the placement of Spanish-language directional and informational signs in City Hall in the amount of$752.50 allocated from the Contingency Fund is hereby approved.
