RESOLUTION APPROVING WATER POLLUTION CONTROL
FARM LEASE AGREEMENT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, since acquiring over 450 acres of land for the WPC plant southeast of Ames,
the City has leased the land not used for plant operations to an area farmer for agricultural
production; and,
WHEREAS,for more than 10 years now,the farm lease has been with Robert Finch of rural
Ames who also owns approximately 50 acres of farmland adjacent to the City property; and,
WHEREAS, we have had an excellent working relationship with Mr. Finch and have been
very satisfied with him as our farm operator; and,
WHEREAS, this is the same agreement as approved last year, and includes the following:
a 50150 crop share; the farm operator also provides additional support in the form of machinery,
planting,harvesting,delivery to markets., etc., at no additional expense to the City; seed, fertilizer,
and insecticide are cost-shared on a 50150 basis; herbicide costs are paid 75% by the operator and
25%by the City; and, the operator pays the City$.10/bushel of soybeans and $.08/bushel of corn
stored in the City's grain storage bins.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the farm lease for the 2002 crop year with Robert Finch is hereby approved.
