HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Agreement for consulting services for Southeast Entry Way Study RESOLUTION NO. 02-058 RESOLUTION APPROVING PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH DUNBAR/JONES PARTNERSHIP OF DES MOINES FOR SOUTHEAST ENTRYWAY CORRIDOR STUDY AND CONCEPT FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, the City Council received several letters requesting that the City develop design guidelines for the I-35/U.S.30 and South 16'Street/Dayton Avenue entryway(Southeast Entryway)into Ames within a time frame that would allow coordination with development projects in the area, beginning in the Spring 2002 construction season; and, WHEREAS, on December 18, 2001, the City Council directed staff to work with interested consultants to define a scope of services and fee to provide a design concept for the Southeast Entryway by June 2002; and, WHEREAS, after receiving proposals from four design firms, staff recommended that Dunbar/Jones Partnership of Des Moines, Iowa,be selected for this work; and, WHEREAS,the objectives of the consulting contract are to:analyze existing conditions that this site presents for entryway development; identify issues and establish a vision, goals, and objectives; through examining alternatives, create an overall concept; and determine how future entryway improvements would relate to private development projects; and, WHEREAS, the planning area would not be confined to the 1-35/11 S. 30 and South 161' Street/Dayton Avenue interchanges,but would also include corridors associated with the Entryway; and, WHEREAS, of the $14,080 total cost, $10,080 will come from budgeted funds for consulting services in the Planning and Housing Department, and the property owners will pay the remaining $4,000. NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the Professional Services Agreement for the Southeast Entryway Corridor Study and Concept is hereby approved and shall be executed upon the receipt of the funds ($4,000) from the property owners.
