RESOLUTION APPROVING WAIVER OF FEE
FOR CITY AUDITORIUM USE FOR
AMERICAN LEGION-SPONSORED EVENT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS,the City received a request from the American Legion Post No.37 for a waiver
of fees for the use of the City Auditorium for a date yet to be determined in February 2002; and,
WHEREAS,the American Legion wishes to recognize the families of those currently in the
military of the United States in the war against terrorism; and,
WHEREAS, between 100-200 families will be invited to participate in a ceremony where
the Blue Star Service Banner will be awarded to them to display in the window of their homes
signifying that a member of their family is currently serving to help protect us all; and,
WHEREAS,the fee waiver for the auditorium would assist the American Legion in defraying
the costs and would allow the organization to use its resources to honor these families.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the request from the American Legion Post No. 37 for a waiver of the fee for use of the City
Auditorium in February 2002 for recognition of the families of those currently in the military service
in the war against terrorism is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 22nd day of January, 2002.
