HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Memorial Plaque at Ames Municipal Airport RESOLUTION NO. 02-028 RESOLUTION APPROVING PLACEMENT OF MEMORIAL PLAQUE FOR CARL ZELIADT AT AMES MUNICIPAL AIRPORT FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, a member of the Ames Hangar Club has requested permission to place a memorial plaque on a boulder on land leased to the Club on the west side of the Ames Municipal Airport; and, WHEREAS, the memorial would be for Carl Zeliadt, who died this past fall; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Zeliadt played a major role in general aviation at the Airport and was the founder of the Silent Knights Soaring Club, which is still a very visible activity for gliders in our local area; and, WHEREAS,the Ames Hangar Club maintains liability insurance for the leased land and will hold the City harmless for the placement of the boulder; and, WHEREAS, funding for the project is entirely by private individuals and presents no cost to the City for placement or future maintenance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the placement of a memorial plaque for Carl Zeliadt by the Ames Hangar Club on a boulder on the west side of the Ames Municipal Airport is hereby approved. ADOPTED THIS 22"d day of January, 2002. Diane R.
