HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Consultant for design and construction management of Ames Quarry Project RESOLUTION NO. 02-019 RESOLUTION APPROVING WAIVER OF FORMAL BIDDING PROCEDURES AND APPROVING CONTRACT FOR DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS, AND CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT FOR THE AMES QUARRY PROJECT FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, Conservation Design Forum, Inc., (CDF) is the landscape architectural firm that the City retained to develop the Conceptual Master Plan for Hallett's Quarry; and, WHEREAS, CDF specializes in community planning, ecological restoration, and resource management; and, WHEREAS, the City retained CDF in July 2000 to assist with the development of the Conceptual Master Plan for the Hallett's Quarry area,and the process that CDF used in working with City officials,the public,and local technical experts in developing the Master Plan was excellent; and, WHEREAS, the overall project and the Conceptual Master Plan were well received by the public as demonstrated by the passage of the bond issue in November 2001; and, WHEREAS, since CDF performed admirably in preparing the Conceptual Master Plan and because ongoing expertise is a specialized area is required to assure a successful construction project, staff recommends that CDF be retained to prepare the design and construction plans and specification documents and to oversee construction management for this project; and, WHEREAS,the total cost for this Scope of Services Agreement is a lump sump amount not to exceed$320,700. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that formal bidding procedures are hereby waived,and the award of contract to Conservation Design Forum, Inc.,for the development of design and construction documents and construction management services for the Ames Quarry Project in an amount not to exceed$320,770 is hereby approved.
