HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Consultant services contract to conduct Storm Water Quality Study RESOLUTION NO. 02-006 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONSULTANT SERVICES CONTRACT WITH CAMP,DRESSER,& McKEE,INC., TO CONDUCT THE STORM WATER QUALITY STUDY PERTAINING TO THE EPA PHASE II PERMIT REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS,late in 1999,the EPA completed the regulations dealing with storm water quality for cities with populations under 100,000 (Phase II Regulations); and, WHEREAS,the Phase I1 Regulations require agencies to develop programs in specifically targeted areas in order to control the pollutants that are carried to streams and rivers as rainfall events occur and also require a permit submittal by March 2003; and, WHEREAS,the permit is for a five-year period and must establish a program that will address the required areas within that time period; and, WHEREAS,the 2001/02 budget allocates $100,000 of Storm Water Utility Funds to contract for outside help to determine what details the City needs to include in its permit application to meet the Regulations as well as meet the needs of the citizens; and, WHEREAS, staff conducted an extensive selection process, and the firm of Camp, Dresser, & McKee, Inc., (CDM) of Kansas City to undertake the Study; and, WHEREAS, the proposed contract outlining the services to be included has been negotiated between staff and the consultant; and, WHEREAS,the contract is set up as an hourly rate with a not-to-exceed amount of$100,000;and, WHEREAS,expenses for printing,travel,and other costs are included in the not-to-exceed amount. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the consultant services contract with Camp,Dresser,&McKee,Inc.,for the completion of the Study outlining what is needed to meet the EPA Phase II permit requirements in an amount not to exceed $100,000 is hereby approved.
