HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Revision to 2001/02 Human Service Contract with Center for Creative Justice RESOLUTION NO. 02-005 RESOLUTION APPROVING REVISIONS TO 2001/02 HUMAN SERVICES CONTRACT WITH CENTER FOR CREATIVE JUSTICE (CCJ) FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, during ASSET's December 13 meeting, the Center for Creative Justice (CCJ) requested that ASSET recommend to the Council that the current contract be revised to allow billing for staff hours spent conducting community education and training; and, WHEREAS,this is a reallocation of existing funds,therefore,no new funds are being requested; and, WHEREAS,the agency is proposing to be allowed to bill for staff time spent educating groups and individuals in the community about alternative conflict resolution; and, WHEREAS, the Law Enforcement(Ames Police Department) is one of the areas mentioned for this education effort,however, it has been made clear to both ASSET and CCJ that any work performed by CCJ with the Ames Police will be paid out of the Police budget, and its effectiveness and continuation will be evaluated by the chief and his staff; and, WHEREAS, staff recommends approval of this amended contract effective December 1, 2001, through June 30, 2002; and, WHEREAS, additionally, staff recommends that Council direct ASSET to evaluate the effectiveness of this change and report back to the City Council within a reasonable time after the conclusion of the 2001/02 contract. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that ASSET's recommendation to revise the 2001/02 contract with Center for Creative Justice to include reimbursement for community education on alternative conflict/restorative justice services effective December 1, 2001, through June 30, 2002 is hereby approved. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that ASSET is hereby directed to evaluate the effectiveness of this service at the conclusion of the contract period.
