HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Preliminary Resolution for 2000/01 Arterial Street Rehabilitation Project RESOLUTION NO. 01-554 PRELIMINARY RESOLUTION PURSUANT TO SECTION 384.42 OF THE IOWA CODE COVERING THE 2000/2001 ARTERIAL STREET REHABILITATION PROJECT(DAYTON AVENUE IMPROVEMENT),CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable that a certain paving project in the City of Ames, Iowa, to be located as hereinafter described, be constructed in accordance with the provision of Chapter 384, Code of Iowa, and a portion of the cost thereof assessed to the property benefitted thereby; and, WHEREAS, the City has arranged for engineering services with the City's Department of Public Works in connection with said improvement, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. That the following shall be constructed as a single improvement and such improvement shall be located with terminal points and of materials and sizes as follows: Terminal Points Part 1 - Dayton Avenue: Beginning at the centerline of East Lincoln Way right-of-way thence north approximately 4,185' to the centerline of East 13tn Street right-of-way. Part 2 -Whitney Avenue: Beginning at the centerline of Edison Street right- of-way thence north approximately 512' to the centerline of Pullman Street right-of-way. Kinds and Quantities of Materials and Work Construction of 4,200'portland cement concrete paving 4V in width, portland cement concrete railroad overpass on Dayton Avenue and construction of 600'portland cement concrete paving 27' in width on Whiitney Avenue. Work also includes grading, landscaping, storm sewer, water main, bicycle path, sidewalks, and miscellaneous appurtenances. Section 2. A general description of the property or a designation of the lots which the City Council believes will be specially benefitted by the said improvement are set out on Appendix A attached hereto and by this reference made a part hereof as if fully set out. Section 3. That the Engineers are hereby ordered to prepare preliminary plans and specifications, an estimated cost of the work and a plat and schedule and to file the same with the Clerk, and shall include in the estimated cost a default fund item of not to exceed 10% of the amount to be assessed against specially benefitted property. Section 4. That the improvement shall be known as the 2000/2001 Arterial Street Rehabilitation Project (Dayton Avenue Improvement), and shall be so referred to in all subsequent proceedings. Section 5. All resolutions or orders or parts thereof, to the extent the same may be in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed. Passed and Approved this 11 rh day of December , 2001. Diane R. Voss, City Clerk Ted Tedesco, Mayor (Seal) Dayton Avenue Improvements-2000-01 Arterial Street Rehabilitation Project,Dayton and Whitney,120601.wpd 1 APPENDIX A Assessment Boundaries The assessment area is comprised of two parts as described below: Part 1: Beginning at the point of intersection of the west right-of-way line of Dayton Avenue and the north right-of-way line of East Lincoln Way; then west along the north right-of-way line of East Lincoln Way to a point that is 300 feet west of the west right-of-way line of Dayton Avenue; then north along a line parallel to, and 300 feet west of the west right-of-way line of Dayton Avenue to a point along the south right-of-way line of Northeast 13th Street then east along the south right-of-way line of Northeast 13th Street to a point 300 feet east of the east right-of-way line of Dayton Avenue, then south along a line parallel to, and 300 feet east of the east right-of-way line of Dayton Avenue to a point along the north right-of-way line of East Lincoln Way; then west along the north right-of-way line of East Lincoln Way to the point of beginning. Part 2: Beginning at the intersection of the west right-of-way line of Whitney Avenue and the north right-of-way line of Edison Street; then west along the north right-of-way line of Edison Street to a point that is 300 feet west of the west right-of-way line of Whitney Avenue; then north along a line parallel to, and 300 feet west of the west right-of-way line of Whitney Avenue to a point along the south right-of-way line of Pullman Street; then east along the south right-of-way line of Pullman Street to a point 300 feet east of the east right- of-way line of Whitney Avenue; then south along a line parallel to, and 300 feet east of the east right-of-way line of Whitney Avenue to a point along the north right-of-way line of Edison Street; then west along the north right-of-way line of Edison Street to the point of beginning.
