RESOLUTION APPROVING USTEP GRANT APPLICATION
FOR KELLOGG AVENUE/LINCOLN WAY
TRAFFIC SIGNAL REPLACEMENT PROJECT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, included in the proposed 2002/03 Capital Improvements Plan is a project to
replace the Kellogg Avenue/Lincoln Way traffic signal; and,
WHEREAS, the project includes modifying the signal installation to include all new
underground and overhead equipment, because the existing signal poles, signal heads, and wiring
are in very poor condition and are susceptible to operating problems; and,
WHEREAS,the project will include overhead traffic displays for every lane of traffic on both
Lincoln Way and Kellogg Avenue; and,
WHEREAS, the estimated cost for the new traffic signal is $130,000; and,
WHEREAS,the Urban State Transportation Engineering Program(USTEP)grant will cover
$71,500 with the City's portion for this project at $58,500 in Road Use Tax Funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the USTEP grant application for$71,500 for the Kellogg Avenue/Lincoln Way Traffic Signal
Replacement Project is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 1 Ph day of December, 2001.
