HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Agreement for election polling places within and outside of corporate limits RESOLUTION NO. 01-539 RESOLUTION APPROVING INTERAGENCY AGREEMENT BETWEEN STORY COUNTY AND THE CITY OF AMES FOR ELECTION POLLING PLACES THAT CONSIST OF INCORPORATED AND UNINCORPORATED AREAS FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, Story County has been informed by the Legislative Service Bureau of a recommendation for the County's redistricting plan; and, WHEREAS, a parcel was included with Grant Township on the original plan that was not contiguous to Grant Township, was in a different legislative district than that Township, and that parcel needed to be added to an Ames precinct; and, WHEREAS, the parcel of land in question is unpopulated, around the 13`h Street exit from Interstate 35, and is not contained within the City of Ames; and, WHEREAS, when a precinct is comprised of unincorporated (township) territory and incorporated territory, a mutual agreement must be adopted by the County and the City per Code of Iowa Section 49.6. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Interagency Agreement between Story County and the City of Ames for election polling places that consist of incorporated areas and unincorporated areas is hereby approved.
