HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Waiver of Purchasing Policy regarding disposal of bookmobile RESOLUTION NO. 01-493 RESOLUTION APPROVING REQUEST TO WAIVE PURCHASING POLICY FOR DISPOSAL OF SURPLUS EQUIPMENT FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, a new Matthews bookmobile was purchased and placed into service for the Ames Public Library; and, WHEREAS, this unit replaced the 1985 Gerstenslager bookmobile; and, WHEREAS,the City's purchasing policy states that equipment no longer required or having no practical use to the City may be disposed of by any of the following methods: 1) transfer to another department; 2)trade in; 3)public auction; 4) sale by written bid; or, 5) cannibalizing; and, WHEREAS, the Director of Equipment Services received an unsolicited offer from J.C. Wilson of The Flying Marsupials Band of Des Moines,Iowa,to purchase this unit for$3,500; and, WHEREAS, staff has determined that this is a fair offer and that rejecting this offer and attempting to solicit written bids might result in a lower sale price. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the request to waive the City's purchasing policy regarding the disposal of the 1985 Library bookmobile is hereby approved.
