HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Matching funds for taxiway lighting and airfield guidance signs RESOLUTION NO. 01-454 RESOLUTION APPROVING MATCHING FUNDS TO INSTALL TAXIWAY LIGHTING AND AIRFIELD GUIDANCE SIGNS AT THE AMES AIRPORT FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, on November 13, 1997,the City Council accepted the completion of a Master Plan update for the Ames Municipal Airport, which recommended improvements to keep the infrastructure in safe condition; and, WHEREAS,each year,the City submits a copy of the improvements requesting FAA funding to the Iowa DOT and then forwards same to the FAA for consideration; and, WHEREAS,the 2001/02 CIP includes a project to install lighting on Taxiway 13/31 and to install airfield guidance signs as required by FAA regulations; and, WHEREAS, on August 22, 2001, the City was notified that FAA grant funding for this project was approved; WHEREAS, the total estimated cost for the project is $315,000, with the FAA funding totaling $283,500 and the City's share being$31,500; and, WHEREAS, due to the existing work load of the Public Work's Engineering Division, the services of a consultant must be retained to keep the project on the schedule outlined by the FAA. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that matching funds in the amount of$31,500 are hereby authorized to complement the FAA grant allowing the City to begin the selection process for a consultant and to proceed with the project to install taxiway lighting and airfield guidance signs.
