HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Farmer's Market vending during FACES Celebration RESOLUTION NO. 01-428 RESOLUTION ALLOWING DOWNTOWN FARMER'S MARKET TO VEND DURING THE HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION'S FACES CELEBRATION FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, on October 13, 2001, FACES (Families of Ames Celebrate EthnicitieS) is sponsoring a fall cultural diversity celebration; and, WHEREAS, a group of individuals including the Chamber of Commerce,the NAACP, the Ames Interfaith Alliance, the Ames School District, the League of Women Voters, the Mayor's Youth Committee, ISU World Theatre, the Parks and Recreation Department, the Main Street District, the Ames International Partner Cities Association, ISU personnel, the Public Library,the Police Department, and others are planning this event; and, WHEREAS,this is an event to showcase the various cultures in our community,to celebrate each other and find richness in sharing,and to"envelope"everyone in a feeling of community; and, WHEREAS, the Human Relations Commission is requesting that the Downtown Farmer's Market be allowed to vend on Main Street between the hours of 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on October 13. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the request to allow the Downtown Farmer's Market to vend on Main Street between the hours of 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the FACES Celebration is hereby approved. ADOPTED THIS 18th day of September, 2001.
