RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT
TO ZONING CHANGE AGREEMENT FOR
SOMERSET SUBDIVISION
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, the developers of Somerset are requesting to amend the Somerset Zoning
Change Agreement to allow for Country House Lots to be located on the Village Cottage Lots within
the Sixth Addition of the Somerset Subdivision; and,
WHEREAS, the developers have sold all but two of the subdivided single-family lots and
wish to convert the Village Cottage Lots to Country House Lots in order to ensure the availability
of single-family detached lots; and,
WHEREAS, staff supports this request because it provides a lot layout and a transition
between uses that is similar to what is taking place directly to the north of the subject site,north of
Aspen Road and south of Clayton Drive; and,
WHEREAS, this request is consistent with the consultant's general recommendations and
understood TND principles and is consistent with the lot layout directly adjacent to the north of the
subject site; and,
WHEREAS, the Amendment will provide Country House Lots on both sides of Somerset
Drive from Bristol Drive to Stange Road.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the Seventh Amendment to the Agreement for Rezoning,Platting,and Development of Somerset
Subdivision to allow a change from Village Cottage Lots to Country House Lots is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 1 lth day of September, 2001.
