HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - West Street Neighborhood Improvement Project RESOLUTION NO. 01-320 RESOLUTION APPROVING THE WEST STREET NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT FOR 2001/02 FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, for the sixth consecutive year, the City Council appropriated $50,000 from Local Option Sales Tax receipts to finance the Neighborhood Improvement Program; and, WHEREAS,although July 31 st was set as the deadline to receive applications,an application has been received from the West Street Neighborhood for a project to be accomplished specifically on August 24 and 25,and because of the timing of the project,the neighborhood representatives need to know now if their project will be approved; WHEREAS, this is the second cooperative project with Destination Iowa State (formerly New Student Days)and involves the participation of approximately 50-60 residents from the neighborhood and 100-150 students; and, WHEREAS,the project involves the neighborhood surrounding West Street--defined as Howard Street to Franklin, and Lincoln Way to West Street; and, WHEREAS,tasks identified include landscaping,cleaning gutters,scraping and painting garages, constructing a swing frame, laying stone for a rose garden, and small streetscaping plantings at seven neighborhood corners; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that funding in the amount of$1,000 for the above-listed Neighborhood Improvement Project is hereby approved.
