HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Agreement for WPC Plant Methane Generator Project RESOLUTION NO. 01-267 RESOLUTION APPROVING ENGINEERING SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR WATER POLLUTION CONTROL PLANT METHANE GENERATOR PROJECT FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,the original WPC Plant construction included two methane generators and provided for future installation of a third generator; and, WHEREAS,gas production has now increased to the point that the third unit is economically viable,and the Methane Generator Project completes the original design for the gas handling system by installing the third methane generator; and, WHEREAS,the Council approved a conceptual change to the project budget that provides for additional preventive maintenance work and upgrades to the controls and instrumentation system in addition to the third generator, and the revised budget for FY 2000-01 includes$525,000 for this project; and, WHEREAS, staff have received an engineering proposal from Kaeding and Associates of Minneapolis, Minnesota, for the electrical and mechanical design work for the project; and, WHEREAS, the proposal includes engineering design services, evaluation of environmental permitting requirements, and bidding and construction assistance for an amount not to exceed$71,950; and, WHEREAS, staff have reviewed the engineering proposal and are in agreement with Kaeding and Associates' proposed scope of work and fees; and, WHEREAS,Kaeding and Associates was the original electric design engineer for the plant construction; and, WHEREAS,staff request that an agreement be entered into with Kaeding and Associates as a sole-source provider in the amount of$71,950,plus reasonable out-of-pocket expenses. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the engineering services agreement with Kaeding and Associates of Minneapolis,Minnesota,in the amount of$75,000, including estimated out-of-pocket expenses,is hereby approved.
