PRELIMINARY RESOLUTION PURSUANT TO SECTION 384.42 OF THE
IOWA CODE COVERING THE DOVER DRIVE PAVING PROJECT, CITY
OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable that a certain paving project in the City of Ames,
Iowa, to be located as hereinafter described, be constructed in accordance with the
provision of Chapter 384, Code of Iowa, and a portion of the cost thereof assessed to the
property benefited thereby; and,
WHEREAS, the City has arranged for engineering services with the City's
Department of Public Works in connection with said improvement,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,
Iowa, as follows:
Section 1. That the following shall be constructed as a single improvement and
such improvement shall be located with terminal points and of materials and sizes as
follows:
Terminal Points
Beginning at the east line of Lot 4-C Damon Catron's Subdivision and
running thence west 350' with 30" PCC curb and gutter and asphalt 27' in
width.
Kinds and Quantities of Materials and Work
Construct 350 lineal feet of ACC pavement with PCC curb and gutter
Section 2. A general description of the property or a designation of the lots which the City
Council believes will be specially benefited by the said improvement are set out on
Appendix A attached hereto and by this reference made a part hereof as if fully set out.
Section 3. That the Engineers are hereby ordered to prepare preliminary plans and
specifications, an estimated cost of the work and a plat and schedule and to file the same
with the Clerk, and shall include in the estimated cost a default fund item of not to exceed
10% of the amount to be assessed against specially benefited property.
Section 4. That the improvement shall be known as the Dover Drive Paving Project, and
shall be so referred to in all subsequent proceedings.
Section 5. All resolutions or orders or parts thereof, to the extent the same may be in
conflict herewith, are hereby repealed.

APPENDIX A
Assessment Boundaries
Beginning at the northeast corner of Lot 4-C Damon Catron's Subdivision and running
thence south to the centerline of Dover Drive; thence south-southeast to a point on the
south line of Lot 8-C 130' northeast of the southwest corner thereof;thence southeast 138'
to the northwest corner of Lot 9; thence south 218.46'; thence west 875'; thence north
663.4' to the northwest corner of Lot 6-C; thence east 300.5' thence north 175.8'; thence
east 500.6' to the point of beginning.
