HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract amendment for Children's Services of Central Iowa RESOLUTION NO.01-195 RESOLUTION APPROVING 2001/01 CONTRACT AMENDMENT FOR CHILDREN'S SERVICES OF CENTRAL IOWA FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, in February 2001, Children's Services of Central Iowa (CSCI) sent communication to ASSET requesting that the agency be allowed to move$44,111 from all funders in FY 2000/01 from subsidy of the Infant Care program to the Day Care for Children($12,732) and School-Age($31,379); and, WHEREAS, these subsidy funds are applied to a lower-income sliding fee scale, and more of these families needing subsidy are in the Children and School-Age programs; and, WHEREAS,ASSET denied this request on March 22,2001,and again on April 12,2001,on the basis that"the funder's priority is infant care and the lack thereof,"and, WHEREAS,per ASSET procedures,CSCI is now appealing directly to the individual funding bodies for contract revisions, and the request was referred to staff for recommendation; and, WHEREAS, CSCI is requesting that approximately $24,729 of the City's 2000/01 contract total of $59,184 be reallocated across the agency's programs; and, WHEREAS, the City staff position has long been that ASSET-funded agencies should present an accurate picture of the services they provide, and it is believed that CSCI is attempting to do this; and, WHEREAS,while ASSET members prioritize infant care highly,the City Council has not prioritized infant care over other forms of day care(i.e., children, school-age,or even adult); and, WHEREAS, in the interest of equal service to community members needing day-care assistance, adherence to City Council priorities and accuracy in reporting,staff recommends that this request be approved. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the request from Children's Services of Central Iowa to move$44,111 from all ASSET funders in FY 2000/01 from subsidy of the Infant Care program to the Day Care for Children($12,732)and School-Age($31,379)is hereby approved.
