RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF
SOUTH DAKOTA AVENUE/U.S. HWY. 30 INTERCHANGE
GRADING AND PAVING PROJECT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, in conjunction with the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT), this City Council
has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of
Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the South Dakota Avenue/U.S. Hwy. 30 Interchange
Grading and Paving Project; and,pursuant to notice and hearing,bids were received on the 3rd day of April,
2001, by the IDOT as called for in the detailed plans and specifications; and,
WHEREAS, this Council along with the IDOT has heretofore determined that the bid of McAninch
Corporation of West Des Moines,Iowa, in the amount of$3,296,295.75 is the lowest and best bid submitted
for the construction of said project; and,
WHEREAS,contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said
contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,as follows:
Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and McAninch Corporation of West Des
Moines,Iowa,in the amount of$3,296,295.75 dated the 27th day of April,2001,for the construction
of the South Dakota Avenue/U.S. Hwy. 30 Interchange Grading and Paving Project as provided for
in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond
of the said contractor with United States Fidelity& Guaranty Company of West Des Moines, Iowa,
as surety thereon, in the amount of$3,296,295.75 filed in connection therewith,be and the same are
hereby approved.
Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the
extend of such conflict.
ADOPTED THIS 8th day of May, 2001.
