HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Agreement for land acquisition for elevated water tank site RESOLUTION NO. 01-095 RESOLUTION APPROVING AGREEMENT AND EASEMENT FOR LAND ACQUISITION FOR ELEVATED WATER TANK SITE AT 500TH AVENUE (COUNTY LINE ROAD) AND U. S. HIGHWAY 30 FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, on October 24, 2000, the City Council authorized staff to begin the process to acquire land and easement for the new water main and elevated water storage tank near County Line Road and U. S. Hwy. 30; and, WHEREAS,in accordance with recent state legislation,Council confirmed its intent to proceed with the project and acquire the necessary land on November 28, 2000; and, WHEREAS, an appraisal of the property was acquired and provided to the landowner in December 2000,and since that time, staff has been negotiating with the property owner to acquire the necessary land and easements; and, WHEREAS, staff has recently reached a verbal agreement with Mrs. Frieda Crane to acquire approximately 1.34 acres of land at the intersection of County Line Road and U. S. Hwy. 30 for the elevated water tank site; and, WHEREAS, the verbal agreement also includes approximately 2.88 acres for the permanent easement for the water main and ingress/egress to the site and approximately 0.43 acre of temporary construction easement. NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the verbal agreement with Mrs. Freda Crane for the land and easement necessary for the new elevated water storage tank in the amount of$70,000 is hereby approved and the Mayor is hereby authorized to sign the Purchase Agreement.
