RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR
RECONSTRUCTION OF LINCOLN WAY AND GRAND AVENUE INTERSECTION
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, this City Council, in conjunction with the Iowa Department of Transportation
(IDOT),has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed
in the City of Ames,Iowa, such project having been designated as the Reconstruction of Lincoln Way
and Grand Avenue Intersection Project;and,pursuant to notice and hearing,bids were received by the
IDOT on the 19th day of December, 2000, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications; and,
WHEREAS,the IDOT has heretofore determined that the bid of Reilly Construction Company,
Inc., of Ossian, Iowa, in the amount of$3,231,765.37 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the
construction of said project; and,
WHEREAS, contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed
by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as
follows:
Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, the Iowa Department of
Transportation, and Reilly Construction Company, Inc., of Ossian, Iowa, in the amount of
$3,231,765.37 dated the 9th day of January, 2001, for the construction of the Reconstruction
of Lincoln Way and Grand Avenue Intersection Project as provided for in the detailed plans and
specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said
contractor with American Casualty Company of Reading, Pennsylvania, as surety thereon, in
the amount of $3,231,765.37 filed in connection therewith, be and the same are hereby
approved.
Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to
the extend of such conflict.
ADOPTED THIS 23rd day of January, 2001.
