HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Agreement for South Dakota/U.S. Hwy 30 Interchange Project RESOLUTION NO. 01-004 RESOLUTION APPROVING THE 28E AGREEMENT WITH STORY COUNTY FOR THE SOUTH DAKOTA/U. S.HWY.30 INTERCHANGE PROJECT FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,as part of the South Dakota/u. S.#30 Interchange Project,a section of the county road in the southwest quadrant of the interchange area needs to be relocated south of the future eastbound exit ramp; and, WHEREAS,to meet Iowa Department of Transportation guidelines this 3,000-foot section will be rebuilt with a curvilinear alignment and intersect South Dakota Avenue south approximately 600 feet from the exit ramp; and, WHEREAS,it will be rebuilt as a rural roadway with the same design characteristics as the existing road, including a 30-foot gravel surface and drainage ditches along both sides of the road; and, WHEREAS, in order to reconstruct this rural county road, staff has worked with Story County to prepare a 28E Agreement for this Project; and, WHEREAS,this Agreement allows the Cityto design and reconstruct the street as part ofthe Project and to revert the jurisdiction of the road and right-of-way to the County after the project is finished; and, WHEREAS,the cost of this Project and right-of-way acquisition has been included in the estimate ($6,838,980)for the South Dakota/U. S.#30 Interchange Project,and it will be partially offset by$500,000 in STP funding that was awarded jointly to the City and Story County for a regional transportation facility; and, WHEREAS,the Story County Board of Supervisors has approved the Agreement. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the 28E Agreement with Story County for the South Dakota/U. S.#30 Interchange Project is hereby approved.
