RESOLUTION ACCEPTING COMPLETION OF
WATER MAIN RELOCATION
FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, the First Christian Church at 611 Clark Avenue is building an elevator on
the west side of their Church to provide accessibility to all floors of the building; and,
WHEREAS, the proposed construction will occupy some of the closed City alleyway just
west of the building; and,
WHEREAS, the Church requested that the south 142' of this 20'-wide alleyway be
vacated and transferred to the Church; and,
WHEREAS, the 14" water main is located in this alleyway from Sixth Street to Sixteenth
Street, and a section of this water main between Sixth and Seventh Streets needed to be relocated
so that it will not be underneath the proposed addition to the Church; and,
WHEREAS, an ordinance vacating the alley was passed on November 23, 1999; and,
WHEREAS, the Public Works has filed a certificate of completion for the Water Main
Relocation required as a condition for approval of the First Christian Church site plan; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the First Christian Church has granted an
easement to the City for the water main and relocation of the water main, in accordance with City
requirements, and a Quit Claim Deed for the South 142'of the vacated part of the north/south
alley abutting Lot 20 in Wells Subdivision of Block 43, Third Addition to Ames, Iowa, is
authorized.
ADOPTED THIS 19th day of December, 2000.
