HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Exception to Conflict of Interest Provision, Section 8 Rental Assistance Program RESOLUTION NO. 00-511 RESOLUTION ALLOWING TENANT UNDER THE SECTION 8 RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM THE OPTION TO EXTEND LEASE UNTIL JULY 1, 2001 FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,at the City Council meeting of September 19,2000,the City Council approved a staff recommendation to amend a policy in the City's Section 8 Administrative to exclude regular, full-time or part-time, City employees and/or spouses from participating as property owners under the City's Section 8 Rental Assistance Program; and, WHEREAS, at the October 10, 2000, meeting, the City Council received a request from a City employee, who is presently a property owner under the City's Section 8 Program for an exception to the implementation of this policy; and, WHEREAS,the request was to allow a present employee/property owner to continue to lease this unit until such time that the participant, Susan Moore, no longer qualifies for the Program or decides not to renew her lease; and, WHEREAS, staff has met with the property owners who expressed their concern that this participant be allowed to stay in the unit at least until her college graduation next spring. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the client is hereby given the option to extend her lease with David Arkovich under the Section 8 Rental Assistance Program until July 1, 2001.
