HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Withdrawl of Two (2) Flood Mitigation Assistance Grants for Floodwall Projects RESOLUTION NO. 00-477 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING WITHDRAWAL OF TWO FLOOD MITIGATION ASSISTANCE GRANTS FOR FLOODWALL PROJECTS FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,the Federal Emergency Management Agency has denied the extension request from the Iowa Emergency Management Department (IEMD) for the FMA Phase 1 and Phase 2 Grants and the IEMD is requesting that the City of Ames de-obligate the funds; and, WHEREAS,the FMA Phase 1 Grant was for$117,090 for four identified properties,and the FMA Phase 2 Grant was $117,270 for five individual properties; and, WHEREAS,by de-obligating these funds,the state of Iowa will not lose these funds and will be able to utilize the monies elsewhere in the state for flood-relief programs; and, WHEREAS, the IEMD has indicated that the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funding of$1,674,769 is adequate to continue the approved City of Ames' floodwall project; and, WHEREAS,the nine businesses covered under the FMA Phase 1 and Phase 2 programs will now be included in the HMGP funding. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the close-out and de-obligation of the unexpended FMA Grants numbered FMA97-85-01 PJ and FMA98-85-01PJ is hereby approved.
