RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING MAYOR TO SIGN
HUD DOCUMENTS PERTAINING TO THE
ANNUAL CONTRIBUTIONS CONTRACT (ACC)
RENEWALS IN CONNECTION WITH THE
CITY'S SECTION 8 SUBSTANTIAL REHABILITATION PROGRAM
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City was notified by HUD in order to receive a one-year contract renewal, owners
of multi-family housing projects(four or more units)that have HAP contracts expiring in fiscal year 2000 must
comply with the procedures outlined in Notice H99-36; and,
WHEREAS, staff contacted Mark Clark regarding his interest in renewing the HAP contact with the
City to continue assistance for 18 units located in the Sheldon-Munn Apartments for elderly and disabled
persons, and Mr. Clark notified the City of his intentions to renew the HAP Contract; and,
WHEREAS,staff received the contracts from HUD on September 22,2000,and planned on requesting
Council's approval at their meeting of October 10, 2000; and,
WHEREAS, staff was notified by HUD on September 29, 2000, that because the federal fiscal year
ends on September 30, they needed to have the contracts returned immediately or funding for the Program
could be delayed for six months; and,
WHEREAS, it was necessary for the Mayor to sign the contracts before the Council meeting of
October 10 so as to have them returned to HUD immediately; and,
WHEREAS, staff is requesting that the City Council approve the signing of the HAP and the ACC
contracts retroactive to September 29, 2000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the
Mayor is hereby authorized to sign the Housing Assistance Payments(HAP)Renewal Contract and the Annual
Contributions Contract (ACC) retroactive to September 29, 2000, in connection with the City's Section 8
Substantial Rehabilitation Program,for Proj ect No.IA IA048023010 for 18 units located in the Sheldon-Munn
Apartments beginning 8/25/00 thru 8/31/01.
