HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract & Bond-13th/Duff Intersection Improvements Contract 2 - Left Turn Lane RESOLUTION NO. 00-452 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 13TH STREET AND DUFF AVENUE INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS CONTRACT 2- LEFT TURN LANE CONSTRUCTION AND RESURFACING PROJECT FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames,Iowa,such project having been designated as the 13th Street and Duff Avenue Intersection Improvements Contract 2 -Left Turn Lane Construction and Resurfacing Project; and, pursuant to notice and hearing,bids were received on the 30th day of August, 2000, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the City of Ames Public Works Department and filed with the City Clerk on the 8th day of August, 2000; and, WHEREAS,this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Jasper Construction Services,Inc., of Newton, Iowa, in the amount of$468,843.10 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS, contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Jasper Construction Services, Inc., of Newton,Iowa,in the amount of$468,843.10 dated the 12th day of September,2000, for the construction of the 13th Street and Duff Avenue Intersection Improvements Contract 2 -Left Turn Lane Construction and Resurfacing Project as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof,and the performance bond of the said contractor with Merchants Bonding Company(Mutual)ofDes Moines, Iowa, as surety thereon, in the amount of$468,843.10 filed in connection therewith,be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 26th day of September, 2000.
