HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Granting Xenia Rural Water District's Request to Serve Land South of the City RESOLUTION NO. 00-426 RESOLUTION APPROVING REQUEST OF XENIA RURAL WATER TO SERVE LAND SOUTH OF THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, in March 2000, Xenia Rural Water District formally notified the City that it intended to provide water service within the two-mile area adjacent to the southern boundary of the City; and, WHEREAS,on March 28,2000,City Council acted to notify Xenia that the City would take the entire 180 days provided by law to investigate and respond to this request; and, WHEREAS,under state law,Xenia has a right to provide water service within the area unless the City commits to provide service to the same area within four years; and, WHEREAS, since Xenia's request does not cross over the City's planned growth boundary as identified in the adopted Land Use Policy Plan, staff feels that it is not appropriate for the City to commit to provide this area with water service within the four-year time frame. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the request of Xenia Rural Water District to provide water service within the southern portion of the City's two-mile fringe area outside of the City's planned primary growth area is hereby approved.
