HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Municipal Recognition Sign on East 13th Street near Interstate 35 RESOLUTION NO. 00-422 RESOLUTION APPROVING REQUEST FROM THE AMES FOUNDATION AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION FOR A MUNICIPAL RECOGNITION SIGN ON EAST 13TH STREET NEAR INTERSTATE 35 FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,during the past year,the Ames Economic Development Commission(AFDC) has been working with corporate citizens along East 13th Street to beautify this entryway into our city;and, WHEREAS,the AEDC and Ames Foundation have worked jointly on developing the various concepts and have settled on the attached design. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the request from the AEDC and Ames Foundation to erect the limestone entryway sign and surrounding landscaping is hereby approved with the following stipulations: I. An agreement for the installation and maintenance of the landscaping be approved by the City. 2. The landscaping plan be modified to the satisfaction of the City staff to incorporate only "low maintenance"materials into the design. 3. The City not assume any responsibility to replace any major portion of the project should it become necessary due to damage or some other reason. An additional f ind- raising effort must be undertaken to restore elements of the project if it is damaged or worn out. 4. The IDOT approves the installation of the proposed project. 5. The sign be constructed with the same limestone materials as portrayed on the attached plan and in accordance with state and city standards. ADOPTED THIS 25' day of August, 2000. Diane R.
