HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Approving IDOT Supplementary Agreeement for South Duff Trail Project RESOLUTION NO. 00-404 RESOLUTION APPROVING IOWA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SUPPLEMENTARY AGREEMENT FOR THE SOUTH DUFF TRAIL PROJECT FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, currently, the design plans for the South Duff Trail (Phase 1) have been completed and the project will be let by the Iowa Department of Transportation on October 1,2000; and, WHEREAS,this project extends the South Duff Trail from Airport Road to Chestnut Drive and is partially funded with a$436,672 Surface Transportation Program Enhancement Grant; and, WHEREAS, as part of the project, the Iowa DOT seeks to replace the concrete slope protection under the east end of the U. S. 30 viaduct; and, WHEREAS,this slope protection project should coincide with the construction of the bicycle trail since they will be adjoining features, there are cost efficiencies since a portion of this slope protection needs to be replaced with the construction of the bicycle trail under the overpass, and damages to both will occur if the construction is performed separately; and, WHEREAS, the Supplementary Agreement provides that this slope replacement work be included as part of the South Duff Trail Project with the Iowa DOT funding the entire portion of this $20,000 project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Iowa Department of Transportation's Supplementary Agreement for Phase I of the South Duff Trail Project that allows the IDOT to include as part of the Project the replacement of the concrete slope protection is hereby approved.
