HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - 99/00 Neighborhood Improvement Project Funds for Clean Up of College Creek RESOLUTION NO. 00-401 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURE FROM 1999-2000 NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FUNDS FOR CLEAN UP OF THE CREEK BED ADJACENT TO WILDER BOULEVARD DRAINAGE CULVERT FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS,during discussion of the College Creek pollution problem in May,City Council directed that a clean up of the Creek be carried out after the sources of pollution had been removed; and, WHEREAS,unused Neighborhood Improvement Grant monies were identified as a potential funding source for this localized clean up; and, WHEREAS,while investigating the situation in this Creek,Public Works staff determined that an unacceptable amount of sludge and eroded sediment had accumulated on the upstream side of the culvert carrying the Creek under Wilder Boulevard; ; and, WHEREAS,arrangements were recently made to remove the sediment and re-shape the Creek banks in this localized area at an estimated cost of$7,500; and, WHEREAS, at the end of 1999/2000, there was $19,189 in unused Neighborhood Improvement Grant monies left unused; and, WHEREAS, a portion of that money could be used to pay for this work, and the unspent balance could also be reserved until spring as a funding source for any further College Creek cleanup. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the expenditure of$7,500 from unused 1999/2000 Neighborhood Improvement Grant monies to clean up and re-shape the Creek bed adjacent to the Wilder Boulevard culvert is hereby approved. ADOPTED THIS 22nd day of August, 2000. Diane R.
