HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Negotiation for drawings and estimates for Multi-Use Recreation & Aquatic Center RESOLUTION NO. 00-377 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING STAFF TO NEGOTIATE ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES FOR CONCEPTUAL DRAWINGS AND COST ESTIMATES FOR A MULTI-USE RECREATION CENTER/AQUATIC CENTER WITH THE RENAISSANCE DESIGN GROUP FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,the Fiscal Year 2000/01 Capital Improvement Plan includes $45,000 to retain architectural services to prepare preliminary designs, conceptual drawings, and cost estimates for a new multi-use recreation center with an indoor pool and an outdoor aquatic center; and, WHEREAS,in May 2000,Requests for Qualifications(RFQs)were mailed to approximately 35 architectural firms in Ames and throughout the Mid-West, and 12 firms submitted their qualifications; and, WHEREAS,based upon experience in completing similar projects,four firms were selected to interview with staff and two Parks and Recreation Commission members; and, WHEREAS,following the interview process,it was determined that the Renaissance Design Group (RDG) from Des Moines, Iowa, should be the firm retained by the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that staff is authorized to negotiate a contract with the Renaissance Design Group of Des Moines, Iowa,in an amount not to exceed$45,000 for architectural conceptual design services for a multi-use recreation center/aquatic center.
