Home My WebLink About~Master - USTEP Funding for Traffic Signals at US Hwy. 30/Elwood Drive Intersection RESOLUTION NO. 00-256 RESOLUTION APPROVING THE URBAN-STATE TRAFFIC ENGINEERING PROGRAM(USTEP)FUNDING AGREEMENT FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATIONS AT THE U. S.30/ELWOOD DRIVE INTERSECTION FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,traffic volume warrants are met for installing traffic signals at the U. S. 30 eastbound off-ramp/Elwood Drive intersection based on the Federal Highway Administration's Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Device peak-hour warrant; and, WHEREAS,the U. S. 30/Elwood Drive intersection has been prioritized for traffic signals since it will experience significant traffic growth due to the new development in the southwest portion of the City; and, WHEREAS, included in the 1998/2002 Capital Improvement Plan is a project to install traffic signals at the U. S. 30 eastbound off-ramp/Elwood Drive intersection; and, WHEREAS,the estimated costs for installing traffic signals at this intersection is$113,000; and, WHEREAS, a portion of these costs ($60,217)will be covered by a Traffic Safety Improvement Project grant for the signal materials,and the remaining cost of the project($52,783)would be split between the Iowa Department of Transportation and City under a USTEP grant agreement; and, WHEREAS,the state will assume 55%($29,031) and the City will assume 45%($23,752) of the costs; and, WHEREAS,the City's 99/00 budget allocates Road Use Tax for this project. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the Urban-State Traffic Engineering Program(USTEP)funding agreement for traffic signal installations at the U.
