HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Easements for Water Main and Electric Lines in Reiman Gardens RESOLUTION NO. 00-234 RESOLUTION APPROVING EASEMENTS FOR WATER MAIN AND ELECTRIC LINES IN REIMAN GARDENS FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS,prior to the construction of Elwood Drive in the early 1970's,Beach Avenue ran from the ISU campus south to Oakwood Road and out of the City; and, WHEREAS,when Elwood Drive was completed,Beach Avenue was connected into Elwood Drive and did not continue south; and, WHEREAS,a few years later,the platting of Gateway Hills Subdivision created Mortensen Parkway and Beach Avenue was connected to Mortensen Parkway as a means of limiting the through traffic from the residential area; and, WHEREAS, through these changes, the City retained the original right-of-way that provided for Beach Avenue to go south and connect to Elwood Drive; and, WHEREAS,in 1993,ISU requested that the City transfer the old right-of-way to them for use in the Reiman Gardens; and, WHEREAS,City Council approved the transfer of the land subject to the retention of easements for the utilities that existed in the area; and, WHEREAS, currently the City has a water main and an overhead electric line passing through the area; and, WHEREAS, Reiman Gardens is expanding into the area covered by the old right-of-way and the transfer of the land is now critical. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the water main and electric easements that are on the old Beach Avenue right-of-way (Reiman Gardens) are hereby accepted and the transfer of land to Iowa State University approved.
