HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Renewing Contract for 2000/01 Pebble Lime Requirements for Water Treatment RESOLUTION NO. 00-170 RESOLUTION APPROVING RENEWAL OF CONTRACT WITH LINWOOD MINING AND MINERALS CORPORATION OF DAVENPORT,IOWA, FOR 2000/01 PEBBLE LIME REQUIREMENTS FOR WATER TREATMENT FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, on May 11, 1999, the City Council awarded a contract to Linwood Mining& Minerals Corporation of Davenport, Iowa, for the 1999/2000 requirements for pebble lime; and, WHEREAS, this material is used at the City Water Treatment Plant for removing minerals in the treatment process; and, WHEREAS, the period from July 1, 2000, thru June 30, 2001, is a renewal option subject to approval by Council; and, WHEREAS,the base bid of$62/ton is for material with an available calcium oxide content of 92%; and, WHEREAS, the total estimated cost of the lime is $180,000/year, based on an estimated quantity of 2,900 tons, and this amount is included in the $265,000 approved in the 2000/01 operating budget for water treatment chemicals and laboratory supplies. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that renewal of the contract with Linwood Mining&Minerals Corporation of Davenport,Iowa, in the base bid amount of$62.00/ton with an estimated cost of$180,000 is hereby approved.
