HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract with Black and Veatch for Unit 7 Precipitator Retrofit RESOLUTION NO.00-162 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT WITH BLACK AND VEATCH CORPORATION FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES IN CONNECTION WITH UNIT 7 PRECIPITATOR RETROFIT FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,this year's budget includes a CIP project for Unit 7 Precipitator Retrofit; and, WHEREAS,as the AMES' load increases,Unit 7 is operated more and reliable capacity is required to meet our customers' needs; and, WHEREAS,neighborhood residents have expressed concerns about the visible emissions from Unit#7 and particulate matter falling on the neighborhood; and, WHEREAS,this project will address these concerns and improve the reliability of the Unit; and, WHEREAS,a Request for Qualification was sent to ten engineering consultants; and, WHEREAS,ten responses were received and evaluated,and three firms were asked to submit a proposal;and, WHEREAS,the firm of Black and Veatch Corporation located in Kansas City,Missouri,has been selected as the best qualified firm to supply engineering services for this project based on established selection criteria; and, WHEREAS,the work is divided into two phases:Phase 1 is for a study to determine the most advantageous equipment for installation, and Phase 2 is to prepare the specifications for installation of the selected equipment recommended in Phase 1; and, WHEREAS,Phase 1 will be provided for a firm lump sum cost of$39,442,and Phase 2 is estimated to cost $109,939,however,the final amount will be determined following completion of Phase 1. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the Agreement with Black and Veatch Corporation of Kansas City,Missouri,for Phase 1 in the amount of$39,442 is hereby approved.
