RESOLUTION APPROVING IDOT AGREEMENT
FOR STP ENHANCEMENT FUNDING FOR
PHASE I OF SOUTH DUFF AVENUE TRAIL PROJECT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, included in the 1999/2000 Capital Improvements Plan is the first phase of a
two-year project to construct a South Duff Avenue bicycle trail from South Fifth Street to Airport
Road; and,
WHEREAS, due to the partial enhancement funding awarded last year, this project was
divided into two parts with the first phase consisting of a trail extending along South Duff from
Airport Road north of Chestnut Drive; and,
WHEREAS, this Iowa Department of Transportation Agreement for STP Enhancement
funding is for the first phase of the trail project; and,
WHEREAS, this project will be funded with a portion of the $361,212.30 Surface
Transportation Program (STP) Transportation Enhancement funds awarded by the Central Iowa
Regional Transportation Planning Alliance last year; and,
WHEREAS,the estimated cost of the first phase is$330,000 and will be funded on an 80/20
split with the City's share being$66,000 (allocated in the 1999/00 budget from Local Option Sales
Tax).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the Iowa Department of Transportation Agreement for obtaining STP Enhancement funding for
Phase I of the South Duff Avenue Trail Project is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 25th day of April, 2000.
