HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Waiving Policy Re: Surplus Property; Donating Kiosk to Children's Museum RESOLUTION NO. 00-153 RESOLUTION WAIVING THE PURCHASING POLICY REGARDING DISPOSAL OF SURPLUS PROPERTY AND APPROVING THE DONATION OF A RECEPTION KIOSK TO THE CHILDREN'S MUSEUM OF CENTRAL IOWA FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS,when the Water Pollution Control Plant was constructed, a large kiosk was built in the reception area that was used until 1996 when it was replaced by a unit designed for working with computers; and, WHEREAS, the kiosk was then put into storage at the Water Treatment Plant; and, WHEREAS,in 1999,the Water and Pollution Control Department determined that they would not have a use for this kiosk,and other departments were notified that it was available for use in another department; and, WHEREAS,no other City department has a use for the kiosk and it is considered to be surplus property; and, WHEREAS,the Children's Museum of Central Iowa,which is located at the North Grand Mall, has asked that the kiosk be donated to them; WHEREAS, since donation is not a method included in the Purchasing Policy for surplus property disposal,the Purchasing Policy would have to be waived by City Council in order for the kiosk to be donated to the Children's Museum of Central Iowa. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the Purchasing Policy regarding disposal of surplus property is hereby waived and the donation of the kiosk to the Children's Museum of Central Iowa approved.
