RESOLUTION APPROVING REQUEST FOR VOLUNTARY ANNEXATION
OF APPROXIMATELY 291 ACRES, GENERALLY KNOWN AS THE
TAYLOR AND UTHE FARMS
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, on March 7, 2000, City Council adopted the Phase II Annexation Study, the
Capital Investment Strategy, and the Annexation Implementation Strategy; and,
WHEREAS, in response to the approval of the Phase II Annexation Study, the landowners
of the Uthe and Taylor Farms are requesting voluntary annexation of approximately 291 acres
located north ofthe Somerset Subdivision,east of George Washington Carver Avenue,one-halfmile
north of the Northridge Subdivision, and west of the Union Pacific Railroad; and,
WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of this request
at their meeting of March 15, 2000; and,
WHEREAS, a decision to annex the Uthe and Taylor Farms requires that the developer of
these properties be responsible for paying all costs, both on-site and off-site, associated with the
development of the property, and this responsibility will be documented in a contract that must be
signed by the developers and approved by the City Council prior to a decision to rezone any or all
of this property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the petition to annex the areas generally referred to as the Uthe and Taylor Farms is hereby
approved with the condition that a change to the LUPP has been adopted to reflect the policies of
the Phase II Annexation Study,the Annexation Implementation Strategy,and the Capital Investment
Strategy.
ADOPTED THIS 28th day of March, 2000.
