HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Changes to Land Use Policy Plan RESOLUTION NO. 00-115 RESOLUTION APPROVING CHANGES TO THE LAND USE POLICY PLAN BY INCORPORATING A NEW UNIQUE AREA CLASSIFICATION, THE CAPITAL INVESTMENT STRATEGY, AND THE ANNEXATION IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS,changes are being proposed by staff to the Land Use Policy Plan(LUPP)that will create a new unique area classification and incorporate the recently adopted Capital Investment Strategy and Annexation Implementation Strategy; and, WHEREAS, the new unique area classification is being created as a result of the recently adopted Phase H Annexation Study; and, WHEREAS, the Annexation Study identifies that limited additional growth in the area of the Taylor Farm and the Uthe Farm will solve a perceived near-term land supply problem; and, WHEREAS,the proposed change to the LUPP relative to this unique area classification concept is to add a fourth unique area classification to be titled "Near Term Lands" that would allow for continued residential development in a limited amount to solve a perceived near-term land shortage problem; and, WHEREAS, it is being proposed that the LUPP be further changed to include the Capital Investment Strategy and the Annexation Implementation Strategy in the Implementation section of the Plan. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the proposed changes to the Land Use Policy Plan that involve the creation of a new unique area classification to be titled"New Term Lands"and the inclusion of the Capital Investment Strategy and the Annexation Implementation Strategy are hereby approved.
