HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Supplemental Agreement with Consultant for South Dakota Widening Project RESOLUTION NO. 00-086 RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH KIRKHAM MICHAEL & ASSOCIATES FOR ADDITIONAL DESIGN COSTS FOR THE SOUTH DAKOTA WIDENING PROJECT FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, the City has retained the services of the Kirkham Michael & Associates consulting firm to design and inspect the South Dakota Widening Project; and, WHEREAS, staff initially considered widening South Dakota to a four-lane facility from Todd Drive to the U. S. 30 interchange,however,residents expressed concerns about the noise and other hazards associated with the proximity of the travel way to their dwellings; and, WHEREAS, after reviewing their concerns and the conditions along South Dakota, staff believed that the street could be widened to three lanes, instead of four; and, WHEREAS,the cost for the supplemental agreement to design the three-lane roadway will be an additional $24,860 and will cover the redesign of the pavement, grading, box culverts, retaining walls, and storm sewer design; and, WHEREAS,the monies for the cost of the supplemental agreement will be funded from the unobligated Road Use Tax Funds. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the supplemental agreement with Kirkham Michael&Associates for additional design costs in the amount of$24,860 for the South Dakota Widening Project is hereby approved.
