RESOLUTION APPROVING CHANGES PROVIDING FOR
ALTERNATIVE SIDING STANDARDS TO THE
MULTIPLE-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL CRITERIA MATRIX
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, at a previous meeting, it was suggested that a modification be made to the
Urban Revitalization Eligibility Criteria related to siding on multiple-family structures; and,
WHEREAS, staff has recommended the following improvements to the standards to the
Multiple-Family Residential Criteria Matrix:
1. Require maintenance of siding materials for the term of the selected tax abatement
schedule: 3-year, 5-year, or 10-year.
2. Permit historically appropriate siding materials for buildings that have been identified
in the Historic Resources Inventory that was conducted in 1992.
3. Require that siding materials adhere to Historic District guidelines.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,
that the above-named changes providing for alternative siding standards to the Multiple-Family
Residential Criteria Matrix are hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 7th day of March, 2000.
