HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Law Enforcement Block Grant Funds from Bureau of Justice Assistance RESOLUTION NO. 00-059 RESOLUTION APPROVING THE AWARD FROM THE BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $14,239 FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,the purpose of the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant program is to provide units of local government with funds to underwrite projects to reduce crime and improve public safety; and, WHEREAS, our city has been identified by the Bureau of Justice Assistance as a qualified recipient of Law Enforcement Block Grant funds in the amount of$14,239; and, WHEREAS, a 10% match is required for all cities receiving grants, and the funds must be used to develop or enhance anti-crime, anti-drug, or violence-prevention programs; and, WHEREAS,monies in the Police Forfeiture account will be used to satisfy the grant match; and, WHEREAS, it is the intention of the Ames Police Department to use the 1999 Grant funds to purchase additional equipment to enhance investigations and serve as a safety measure for officers. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the award from the Bureau of Justice Assistance for Law Enforcement Block Grant funds in the amount of$14,239 is hereby approved.
